Have you ever imagined building a real house out of LEGOs? What about a Formula 1 Ferrari Racecar that you can really drive? Lots of makers are exploring how these familiar building blocks can be reinvented into real world things!
We were amazed by these instructions and step-by-step photos on how to build a working twin-lens reflex camera from old binoculars, LEGO’s, duct tape … and patience!
It was designed by Norwegian photographer (and maker!) C.F. Salicath. He was inspired when he learned that classic cameras like the Kodak Brownie were very simple inside. They could take a photograph with just a few basic parts: a lens, a shutter blade, an aperture and rolls to hold the film in place. In an era of digital cameras, this maker wanted to see if he could build his own old-fashioned camera in a new-fashioned way. Can you do it, too? If you do, tell us about it at info@makeshopshow.com.
